Stingray Man- if you find anything on breeding this species I'd love to see it and the reference. I have a feeling that you may be thinking of something else as I am pretty darn sure that this species has not been bred in captivity. There is some stuff published in a Field Study but nothing on behavior or anything else like that to the best of my knowledge.

I agree with the comments out there. This is not a species to try on a whim. They are extremely difficult and really tough to get eating anything other than live food. We have also been lucky in this reguard, but have had a lot of poor doers and I would never have this species collected for me (and let's face it if you buy it that is pretty much what you are doing because if they can be sold they will continue to collect them)- it's a death sentence in my opinion. Unless you have unlimited resources there is absolutely no way you could keep this species long term if you are successful because they get absolutely huge. Even if you have an animal that will take non-live food they are poor and competing for food with most other fish.

A cool animal but not recommended.

Thats what I was waiting to hear. Thanks ;)

Per my experience, no matter Coly, China, Ceja, Manzana even Antenna, it's difficult for shipping and easy to dead due to they need the fresh water than another FW stingrays.
Therefore, when they arrived to Taiwan, around 30% will dead in box and 20% will not eat anything until dead...
If the fish is new, my recommendation as below.
1. Please don't mix this fish w/ another type of FW stingray. (Especially for motoro or P13)
2. The water flow can't too fast, due to they are weakness always. (You can choose the filter by top side and use air pump.)
3. You can feed them by cutting gold fish.
4. If they don't eat the gold fish, you can try the small shrimp. (But, please keep tracking due to sometimes...the shrimp will bite the ray...if it's really weak.)
5. They need very clear water...and once they strong enough for catch alive gold fish, you can enhance the water flow. That will increase the grow up speed.

BTW, the best food for stingray is loach...try it!:)

Below pixt is a unknow ray that I owned before...I think it's not Coly or China, somebody knows?

That is not an antenna ray it is a Ceja. The Paratrygon genus have skinny long tails too! You often just don't see them because they become damaged and fall off.

Exactly correct. Nice looking one too.

Thanks for your reply, bro.
Actually, I don't think it's a antenna or Ceja.
As I know, the shape of antenna ray as a peach.
And the shape of Ceja or Mazana as a apple.
I think this unknow ray is similar as China or Coly, the reason as below.
1. Only the China and Coly's shape as a circle.
2. The eyes size from big to small are Antenna bigger than Ceja, than China. And the unknow ray's eyes size is the same as China/ Coly.

And regarding the tail length, due to it's very easy to become another fish's food (like a worm) and even the body size is more and more bigger, however the tail length will not become longer, so usually you can found such rays have a long tail on juv.

they are very nice looking
