I've been in this hobby for a year as of today. This may not be impressive for most people, but this is a long time for me considering I'm only thirteen. My first tank was a 20 long with about 10-12 fish. I listened to my mothers advice about cycling the tank and how many fish to get. I started with three angels, and a pleco, and a few others. Because I listened to my Mom, the tank was uncycled for about three months until I finally did research of my own. I bought some bottled bacteria from a reliable brand and had it cycled in a week. After I finished replacing fish I ended up with two angels, the pleco (The angels and pleco were the only three original fish left), a couple tiger barbs, and a Bala. I moved everything to my 210 by January (I know it's a big upgrade). The Gold Angel in my profile pic was one of the two that was moved to the 210 along with all of the other fish (This time it was cycled). Unfortunately I bought an Angel with ich, but I didn't notice it until I had the fish in the tank and really looked it. The lighting in the store was somewhat dim and I didn't notice the ich there. Unfortunately it spread rapidly. By the time I had it under control the Gold angel and barbs died along with a few others I bought before the ich. Now the only two fish I have left from a year ago are my Marble Angel and my Pleco. They'll each be getting a cube of their favorite type of meat later today to celebrate. I bought them each when they were less than 4 months old so I consider today their B-Day.

Before anyone gets mad and posts negative comments about the 20g, It was my first tank and I listened to my Mothers advice about how to get it started. She acted like she was an expert in the aquarium hobby after having a 10 gallon in highschool. I learned the hard way that she was no expert.

I raised the Marble Angel from quarter size and the Pleco from an inch or less. Now the Angel is 3"+ and the Pleco is 9". I think that's pretty good after being in the 20g for half their lives.20160608_152326.jpg 20160608_152303.jpg 20160627_153621.jpg

Good job dude. Pleco looks like a beast.

Dont worry about the 20g. You did a really good job and came a long way.

Anyone cries over the 20g is a hypocrite wr all learned the same way.

Congrats for the 1 year mark! Hope to see bigger things from you now.

Currently I'm trying to breed Angels in the sane 20g. They've lain eggs once but ate them. Not sure why but I'm going to separate them next time they lay eggs. Both of them have their tubes down and have been picking at a piece of slate for the entire day. Hopefully I'll get some eggs by tomorrow or Wednesday.

I gave the Pleco and Angel thier treats a couple hours ago. I gave them both their favorites. For the Pleco it was Beefheart and for the Angel Blood Worms. They tore it up. I hope to get another 10 years with the way I take car of my tank.

I swear my lfs sold me a faulty breeding pair. First the male doesn't fertilize them, then they eat them, and now the the male is f***ing around while the female is laying eggs.

Congrats....so many kids your age take interest in nothing but Playstation and whatever that other game is called these days.

Xbox is the word you're looking for. I barely play it much anymore. I can't seem to beat the other players who spend 10+ hours a day playing. I would play it for fun, but they did nothing other than play.

Any tips on keeping the fry to a point where I can sell them (If they hatch). I was thinking around quarter size. I do plan on separating the eggs considering the parents like caviar.
