Celebrating one year

Angelfish get better at fertilizing and caring for their fry with practice. The more often they spawn, the more productive it'll be. No need to use fungicides, or to pick out unfertilized eggs, the parents will do that. Consider the first spawning their practice run. They'll have fresh eggs again shortly.

As of today I've picked out 12 bad eggs so far. When the male decided not to fertilize them about half were bad by this time. Hopefully he got to some knowing that only a few went bad so far.

Their first spawn in my tank wasn't their first one. I bought them as a breeding pair, so they've done it at least once before. Another reason I knew it wasn't their first was because of the spawn size. It wasn't as big as most first spawns.

And there are too many bad ones to separate the good ones from the bad, so I just added a small amount of pimafix and melafix. I would add methylene blue but I don't have any.

They ate the eggs the last time they spawned, and that was the only spawn that the male fertilized the eggs. That sounds bad but I've only had the pair for a month and they've only lain eggs three times.
