I hate it when people are ignorant around fish, i accept that my goldfish are not getting excellent care but i am doing as much as i can to get a larger container as soon as possible. I saw a classified ad with a 4 ft tank with:
1 x 20cm "golden" pleco
1 x 15 cm pleco
3 x pangasius shark 35-45cm

Maybe just wait, i dont think PH changes would benefit them to my knowledge. after hatching WC helps survival rate significantly

Once they get too big I plan on moving them to the 20g with the parents. There is plenty of algae and I wrapped a piece of a filter pad around the filter intakes so none of the fry would be sucked in. I had to resort to that because my Dad wouldn't let me get a sponge filter.

do you not have a larger container? a half gallon with no filter will soon result in dead fry :(

If you cull fry then a 2.5 should do till they are too big to be eaten, try and raise the best ones instead of splitting effort between healthy and sickly fish

Currently the only way I can heat the tank is to take the heater out of my Betta's tank. I'm hoping that the decrease in temperature from the tank to room temp won't hurt him.
