Ah the moustache bugs, my basement is infested with them.

I dont understand why people kill everything for... get a container or something close to you and pic it up and take it out side... my mom, dad, and I do it all the time. I went into the mop room at work and there was one about the size of my palm (wasnt a daddy long leg) and I took it outside and put it in the courtyard. its not that hard lol...

I would freak out!! Do they bite..? If so, is the bite harmful?

I Hate those centipedes. Absolutely detest them.

If I can't let it live I don't force them to fight to the death, bit sadistic for my taste :\
We had a wolf spider living under our entertainment center, we even named it, figuring better he eat the smaller bugs that fly and irritate me than constantly be killing spiders.
Worked out, he was there until we moved. Creepy to be watching a movie and see him wander out and explore for 45 minutes.. O_O

BTW, spiders freak me out, despite my keeping tarantulas, they FREAK me out ::shudder::
Still don't make them suffer for a youtube video o_O

I love how everyone says "Just take them back outside". Have you ever thought about that outside is where they came from in the first place... You kill it, its one less thing outside your home that you have to worry about coming inside. Now, depending on what it is, I do agree on just humanely feeding it to your fish instead of smashing it...

I also have a question back, if you find a brown recluse or a black widow do you play croc hunter and go after the deadly spider so you can "release him to live and kill another day"? No you smash his face to the concrete so you no longer have to worry about him multiplying and putting you in more danger.

@OP: Kudos to you for not wanting an infestation of bugs that do not belong in one's house.

I don't mind the house centipedes so much as they eat other bugs. They can bite technically, although you probably wouldn't feel it.

All centipedes tend to be defensive and bite when handled. No centipede in the US is dangerous though.

I do not like putting bugs together to fight to the death. I am a huge fan of inverts. I don't care what kind of animal it is, it is cruel to put two animals together. Wouldn't many of you be irked if someone made two male bettas fight and passed off the death as "it's just a fish"?

Centipedes and spiders are very good for controlling silverfish and roaches. If you have centipedes actually reproducing in your home, there must be someplace really really humid in your home that's allowing them to thrive. Make sure there's no leaky pipes!

House centipedes also make very awesome pets btw.
