Central American Cichlid Pellets

That one big container tho last a long time. Going on ten months now. I freeze most of it and only have a small portion out for daily feedings. So in the long runs the cost are near the same, one big bottle vs a couple small ones.

Yahh I noticed that. Would just hate to buy the big one and the fish not eat it. Although I don’t think that should be a problem.

I will say this. It could be a chore to switch over. I used to feed Hikari and did the switch. Some took it instantly, some resisted. Akin to getting a kid used to fast food to eat a real home cooked meal.

Yah I faced that challenge switching them over from flakes to pellets. I’m not even so much dissatisfied or want to stop using Hikari, I was just hoping to add a little variety in their diet. I think I’ll go with the Omega One this time and if they take that fine I’ll try NLS when I’m ready for food again. Thanks for your advice!

I mix 3-4 different types together in a container that way they have variety with each feeding and it makes introducing a new brand easier as well
That’s a really good idea. What foods do you use?

Cureently I have mixed together Hikari cichlid gold sinking and floating, NLS Thera A and Hikari Cichlid Excel sinking. Cichlid gold is large pellets and the NLS and Excel are medium pellets

I usually try to stick with NLS but they are lacking in a large sinking pellet for sure.

I just got some of Ken's Fish sinking veggie sticks for my V. bifasciatus and they absolutely destroy it. Not so much with dovii.

I haven't tried any of their other sinking sticks because of the amount of binders and fillers, but they are a good size.

Yes, NLS makes larger pellets. I feed NLS Thera-A in the 3mm size to my big cichlids along with Omega One Super Color Sinking cichlid pellets. Both are good. I also feed Hikari Cichlid Gold .

I've adopted the method of just buying and trying all different types of foods and I just try to mix it up and feed a variety each time I feed. I need to get some more bug bites though. My cichlids really liked them. It does get harder though the bigger your fish get. Options are kinda limited for bigger pellet foods.
