Yes, your pleco is most likely hungry. I had a sailfin pleco do this to my Florida Gar before. When I gave him more food before turning off the lights at night, it stopped.
 
Never though she may not be getting enough to eat. I drop algae wafers in every other night, got plenty of driftwood in the tank to graze on, and I don't clean the back glass of the tank, so there is algae there, too.

I'll add algae every night from now on and see if that calms her down.
 
What i read on the pleco forum (Looked up LOTS about this) is that if they aren't getting the correct food (Blanched veggies of MANY types etc etc..) they will get their nutritious from other sources...

SO, from what they say you probably aren't feeding it well. But from what i've seen they mostly agree that once a pleco start sucking slime, thats it for him.
