If you're got a few minutes (9 to be exact) check out this amazing underwater video of Central American Cichlids in the wild. It will surely give you some Aquascape ideas on how to make your tank exactly like the wild. Truly some amazing footage here. I wish it was me who took it but it was not, I just found it very cool and wanted to share.

I wonder if some of the fish featured in the video have even been filmed before. Most of them have the scientific name listed as they appear in the video as well.
 
Nice link thanks for posting it. I was a little surprised how most of the breeding pair seem to be in a lot more crowded areas than most videos like this. Definitely made for good watchin!

This was an excellent short video of several species. I spied a few colorful livebearers living with the cichlids which I wouldn't mind adding to my tanks. Recreating these scenes in an aquarium would be incredible! Members like JK47, Nutty, and Aclockwork have the talent to build environments similar to some in the video. I'd like to try my hand at with a 3D background as a part of it.

I was also surprised to see so many different species living relatively close to one another. I really enjoy videos like this. I wish Nat Geo would pull together an expedition to make a series about South and Central Cichlids. I have seen several shows dedicated to African Cichlids but only a few short glimpses of CA/SA Cichlids. Maybe I should write Nat Geo and include links to some of the best sites that are dedicated to CA/SA Cichlids.

Lee Nuttall is really a pioneer when it comes to housing CA cichlids in well aquascaped biotope style tanks and bringing attention to them on English speaking hobby sites. The rest of us are just playing catch up and trying to learn, grow, and expand with keeping these fish like this. That sounds a bit cheesy, but whatever.

It's a side of the hobby I think a lot of people would really enjoy if they gave it a shot. I learn so many things researching biotopes I probably wouldn't come across otherwise.

If there's interest, I can write something up detailing what's been useful to me in researching and setting up these types of tanks.
