That's what I'm talkin' about.

Ok, I'm gonna have to chew on that some.

Wow , now I have my thinking cap on.

Maybe tomorrow. :)

I'll be watching this thread carefully.

I am going to be replacing my 135 with a 220 (6x2x2.5) in a few weeks and plan on adding more fish.

Right now I have:

3 - Geophagus altifrons
3 - Gymnogeophagus balzani
1 - Gymnogeophagus meridionalis "Norte"
2 - Tahuantinsuyoa macantzatza "Inka Stonefish"
2 - Geophagus steindachneri "Red Hump"
2 - Mesonauta festivus "Festivum" Wild, Peru
1 - Male Angelfish (tried to kill every other Angel he was with)

1 - Red-fin Prochilodus
1 - Blue Phantom Pleco
1 - Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps "Marble Sailfin Pleco"
1 - Australian Rainbow
1 - Rasbora
2 - Rosy Barbs
3 - Lemon Tetras
3 - Serpae Tetras
4 - Glass Cats (my wife picked them, really need to go to a different tank)
6 - Diamond Tetras
7 - Columbian Tetras

All the cichlids are still quite small, but the altifrons are growing fast!

Newsflash, The more I read the further from an answer I get.

As Ncnutcase put it, it's hard to know a fish looking at a picture and reading a profile.
So Far I haven't found a LFS that has any knowlege or stock to choose from. Anyone know of a location in northern California say north of Modesto or south of Yuba that does?

I have spent at least an hour a day for the last week or so reading sticky's and threads, doing Google searches on various specie trying to narrow down the choices.
It feels like if I choose CA Cichlids I will be watching a never ending fight to the death.

Is there a direct correlation with these fish between intelligence and aggression ?

It feels like I'm heading toward a "one of everything" group to keep the killing to a minimum.

I'd hate to have to admit to Toby(PM coming) that he is right and I am attempting to build "Living Art" but I just don't have the desire, much less the time to scoop out half dead fish on a regular basis. I have seen enough violence and killing to last me a lifetime. I throw this thought out there not to get flamed but to see if there is a way to accomplsh the goal.

Thanks to nifeman for the link. Jeff Rapps seems to be a good source, if not THE source, but the shipping cost to the west coast is a consideration.
