Central American tank

If you keep the thorichthys in decent numbers you should not have to many problems.
They tend to be more aggressive if you only have a few. That goes for the whole genus.
I had 6 meeki once in a 210 gallon. They would constantly chase and harass each other. I have also housed 20 meeki together in the same size tank. I had no problems at all with aggression.
I am by no means a fan of overstocking a tank to curb fish of their natural behaviour to stop aggression.
The smaller size of these cichlids allows us to keep them in decent numbers without depleting all their natural behavioural traits and without overstocking the tank.
It is my experience that Elliotti are more aggressive than the others in the group but I would not let you put off keeping them. If you have a group of about 8 you should be OK.
Criboheros robertsoni would be a nice addition as a larger fish.

What about a Cuban centre piece?
Could probably do a vieja hetro, extremely slow growing.
What tankmates would you reccomend for the Cuban as I’ve always liked them and will look into vieja hetro, I thought they were re classified as Oscura heterospila or is that a different fish

Okay I think I’ll go for 10-12 ellioti and dwindle the stock later down the line, I like criboheros robertsoni, will have to see if I can source them

Also did you ever keep ellioti, if so which did you prefer, the meeki or ellioti

Any thorichthys does well w/ robertsoni. Very good mix. But be prepared to wait a really, really long time for the robertsoni to grow. Very slow growers.
Also other cribroheros species do really well w/ thorichthys IMO.

What kind of growth should I expect and also I saw the video of your 150 which looked great, what was the stock for that

Cuban, sword tails and neets is a risky one but would be epic if you can pull it off... Will need a non predatory (for the swords) but aggressive (to keep the neets in check) Cuban.

That does sound like a cool option, will have to do some thinking on which I like better, I think that Cubans are one of the best looking cichlids so that’s drawing me towards them, how many meets would you I should do and do you know anywhere to get them
