Sorry for my absence, when I don't have much to tell, I tend to disappear lol but I figured y'all will appreciate this.

I live in South MS and right before winter, I went creek fishing in city limits just for fun. I caught this little guy on a little Aberdeen hook and a worm. He was too pretty and my wife wanted me to keep him lol grew him out in my 10G and now I've moved him over to a 29G. He was maybe 2-3 inches long when I caught him. He's a lot bigger now. Got plans to get a 40G because I know he's got more growing to do.

Got two Fluval 30s on the tank which seem to be working pretty well. Only issue I'm having is diatoms because of my sand substrate.

He really reminds me of a cichlid, attitude wise. He's definitely a tank boss because I see him raise his fins at his reflection. I planned on adding some shiners once I had a 40G but I'm not so sure he'll let them live.

I also made some DIY driftwood. Found some nice branches in the yard, removed all the bark, soaked them in saltwater then fresh water (with daily water changes to remove the tannins), then after a few weeks, I dried them in the oven and sanded them. Actually worked out really well. None of it is rotting, changing water parameters, or turning my aquarium water brown.
