Hi all, this is my first day, so im not exactly sure what im doing...

I bought this Cichlid from a Petsmart a few months ago, and still cant find the exact species. I know its a Central/South American Cichlid, but not sure which one... I've narrowed it down to either a Red Tiger Cichlid (Parachromis motaguensis), or a Yellow Jacket Cichlid (Parachromis freidrichsthalii)... Im not exactly sure though, as neither of those species coloration matches mine. The Red Tiger Cichlid has red, whihc mine doesnt, and the Yellow Jacket Cichlid is more yellow than mine... Mine is more brown and tan.
Any help would be appreciated... also, can anyone tell if its a male or female? NO worries if you cant, but it would be a help...

Thanks, Caleb (PaiLum92)
(Pics Below, Sorry for the quality and blur, he wouldnt hold still... He also has some blue in his fins and gills, is that helps at all... He's about 2" - 2 1/2" right now, when i got him he was about 1 1/2 inch...)

It's a Jag, Parachromis Managuense.

Yep, didn't even have to look at the pic. The chances of PS selling motas or freddys is pretty slim.

Definately a Jag. I have one from the same location and the same size.

yup def a jag and most likely male since he is already showing some nice spotting on his belly but he will have to grow a bit more for you to be sure, hope you've got a nice big tank for that future monster :) these guys grow fast, i got one at 1.5in and he has almost tripled in size in the past 2 months
