Going to agree. Looks like a little baby Jaguar cichlid. Parachomis managuense. You were pretty close though for being new with them! Good job! They are particularly harder to identify when they are smaller (2.5", even 3" or less).
Determining sex is best done when they are a little larger as males and females continue to diverge in pattern as they grow.
As others mentioned this fish will get big (10"+, but often 14"+), just the heads up.
