+2 How do you tell them apart?

I have these in my sump to replace bio balls for over 8 years already and they are still in great shape. I think the fake stuff is heavier compare with same size.

Thanks for the link. Do you know about how many houses are in 10 kilos? It is expensive at 245.00 but I am sure its worth it! Does seem like a lot of media for the money. I might be into going in with some people and get 10 Kilos.

I don't know how big is your sump but mine is a 60 gallons sump and I only ordered 10 kilos. I put couple layer of bio balls underneath and these bacteria house on top

I see are the Baki Houses under water or exposed to air? I have it the other way in my sump with cermedia blocks and eheim substrate on bottom and bio balls exposed to air ontop.

I learned from a guy used it before me and he said for bacteria house best is to have water drip through it so put them on the top layer is best.

Good idea on the pothos op


Remember the roots are going to grow out and down inside the sump, take that into consideration when planning out the placement! I'd place the basket on PVC legs w/ about 2/3 of the basket submerged and fill the basket with Bio media instead of gravel. That way you have the best of both worlds and you solved your problem!
