I got a 4'' dat and Im going to get a few more around that size.

I've wanted some of these guys for a long time but never looked into them a whole lot.

Yeah they'll be okay on BB but sandy bottom and/or leaf litter would be better.
Never kept any with Dats because I've never had any Dats.
But since they come from the same part of the world, I guess they could cohabitate (at least until your Dats get to be footers +)
Chacas max out around 8", but I had one back in the 80s that I grew to 10" in a 35g tank where it was just him and a 9" Jack Dempsey. Fed them crawdads and red wigglers.
It is so cool watching a crawfish walking along the bottom and BAM all the sudden the Chaca pops open his mouth and no more crawfish.
