Poor man's pacman? Hmmm... I think they actually look cooler than the pacman. I've wanted one, but there's this problem of if its not eating something, it will be eaten in my tanks, and I'm not ready to dedicate a new tank just yet. Very cool cat though.

It is so cool watching a crawfish walking along the bottom and BAM all the sudden the Chaca pops open his mouth and no more crawfish.
that would be so awesome

These are in Australia too you know :naughty:
im not going to get 10K like some people and i doubt they would be under $400

I think I'll try it.
The tank isnt completely bb, I have some tubes on the bottom for the abk to hide in. But I'm probably going to move the abk if I get the chacas so they'll have places to hide. The dat is 4'', so would it be alright to get two chacas of the same size? Or a little bit smaller?

Very nice looking pair. Have you ever gotten them to spawn?
you can tell what sex thay are by that pic?

I just picked up 6 of these guys. Will they be okay w/ my cichla...the cichla are small and im afraid the cats will eat them. Mainly....will they be okay in 86 degree water? And what do you get yours to eat? I want all info you got. thanks in advance

86 might be just a little warm if they are C. Chacas and not C. Burmensis or C. Bankanensis.

C. Chaca comes from cooler rivers in the northern part of India. C. Burensis comes from Myanmar (formerly Burma) and C. Bankanensis is from Malasia/Indonesia/Borneo.

The problem is they look so dang much alike it's hard to tell which is which.

Scotcat has a good web page on the three species.
http://www.scotcat.com/chacafamily.htm

As you can see if your Cats are true C. Chacas and not Banks or Burms they should be in 70 degree water. Banks and Burms can handle the higher Tropical Temps.

PS: At one time Chaca Chacas were thought to have a range from Nepal to Malaysia, but then it was found that they are actually three different fish.

So I need to get these guys in w/ my girls Larger goldfish....not w/ my dats or cichla's. Thanks guys...may explain why they arent eating much. Acclimating now.

TheRealMacdaddy....thanks for the info. They look so similar its hard to tell. Are the cirri the little feelers on the bottom of their mouth?
