I worked at a pet store in Miami when I was a kid and we had tanks full of them all the time. I have only seen them randomly after that. Hopefully they are not endangered. They can breed fairly easy in the aquarium!

The males are slimmer and longer than females. They are fairly easy to breed from what I remember. I read some article way back where groups of 3 were assimilated breeding season and fed earthworms and the females scatter eggs in caves/tubes then the male guards the nest! That would be an awesome project to take on buddy! I will send you some more info from a breeder friend of mine!
