Chain Pickerel

Now i know that the northern pike and smaller cousin the chain pickerel can survive much colder waters than say an oscar and things like that. But i was wondering would a new england fish be able to survive in a heated tank...

As long as you don't change the temp too quickly, then yeah. I don't know about pike, but chain and grass pickerels do fine in our southern swamps, which get as warm as any tropical aquarium.

Thanks i should of thought about the grass, but one day i wanna try the northern pike but they get to big, and if he/she gets sick just release it.

No! Don't release ANY fish....EVER! If it ever lives in your tank, it can never be released. Not only could it harm the environment, but it's also illegal.

True about them growing lol but the DIY tank im going to be building shortly will be almost 1000 gallons to go in my basement, and true that i cant release a fish thats been a tank, but i dont have to heart to let it die so i might just not do it lol

Oh and i was saying release it because it wouldnt be able to handle the warm water so ill put it back into the stream or whatever, but i might not try it just cause you right its illegal and it could hurt the invirontment
