Thanks so much. I just ordered a grass pickerel. Do you know where I could get some craw fish? I have 2 brown bull heads in my tank do you think they would eat the craw fish if I got them?

depends on the sizes of both. But never trust a catfish with anything smaller, i've had a 10" white catfish eat a 4" yellow perch. If it fits in their mouth, it's food.

your right , i looked at it real quick ,its a grass pickerel not also by the pattern but also by the shorter and broader mouth . the chain pick has a longer and skinnier mouth.......
I will try to get a pic, but I recently caught grass pickerel. I was under the impression the Grass Pickerel lacked barring.
The first and third pics are chain pickerel. The middle or second pics is a grass pickerel. Noticed in the 1st and 3rd pics the pattern is spots all the way down.In the second pics the spots turn into a bar.I would have thought it was a hybrid. But I got that same pattern on two of my grass pickerel fry that were tank bred.
Also chain pickerel are non native to MI but their are introduced populations in Lake Erie drainages ,with possible other introductions through out the state.
So 1 and 3 are chain pickerel and 2 is a grass pickerel.

- all three pics look like the same fish to me jus different sides of the fish. definately a pickerel because it lacks spots on the fins, i think its a chain pickerel
