You lucky mother****er!

Where did you catch this thing?

Last time I even saw a school of pickerel was fishing in Mingo a couple of years ago and it was so hot outside I couldn't get any of them to bite. I don't know what they were, I'm guessing grass pickerel since I don't think there's any chains in this county.
Yeah, I wish I was attacked by one of these things, I'd figure out somewhere to put him. :D

he is going in our newly built 450g cinder block pond.

You definitely have chain pickerel in Mingo Swamp. Along with a mess of of other fish that don't appear elsewhere in the state. I place I need to spend some time in the future.

looks like a great catch, its deffinitely not a grass pickerel because i dont thin kthey even get much more than a foot, good luck on growing the fish out

Thanks, I see now that Mingo is in Stoddard county not Butler even though it's only about 15 min away, and chain pickerel are indeed listed on MOFWIS as being in Stoddard.

There are a whole ton of fish there, that's where I got my pygmy sunfish awhile back. Lots of reptiles too for anyone that's into that if you go early in the spring when they're all coming out they're all over the roads, it's ridiculous.

I just remember seeing some schools of pickerel awhile back, but couldn't identify them since I couldn't catch any.:irked:
