challenging peanut as the pike master!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah its from Rapps, just picked it up a few days ago, this was a pic like 5min after I put it in the tank, I'm going to take some more pics later today since I'll have some spare time but the red in the body is more pronounced now and the fish is doing fine in its new home. It schools with my peacock bass like 75% of the time. The pike is about 6.5".

Is your tapajos from him? I was deliberating between the atabapo and the tapajos and decided on the atabapo for now, I wanted 2 but the fish budget for this month wouldn't allow it so next month I might pick up another atabapo or a tapajos.

Definately a female. Almost looks like a tapajos red, the dark blotch behind the pectoral fins.
I have a pair of tapajos red, & she looks a lot like my female. Wait til she starts to color up.
Nice pick up. GL.......Keith

P.S. Also be careful in your selection of tankmates. That`s an awfully big cat in the first pic. IMHO

Keith knows what he is talkin about! I second that. The pikes Rapps is sellin as atabapo are actually Crenicichla sp. lugubris cf. atabapo...basically they are a variant of atabapo. Very nice pikes though, first picture i've seen of them so far. Does look A LOT like Tapajos Red like Keith said...the splotch behind the pectoral is what made me think the same as him. Time and color will tell though. Also second the part about the TSN....he beat me too it though. Pikes don't do so hot with the larger cats because of their torpedo shape, makes them REALLY easy to get eaten. Since the cat will grow MUCH faster than the pike, you could have a very expensive meal.
Speakin of which, why did you go with atabapo if the tapajos red are cheaper? Glad you got them, bout time we got pictures of them up!

A true pike master would have pics!! ;) It's good to see new Pike disciples rise up and represent MFK's pikes!!!! :clap :clap :clap
