Chameleon tank size- 175?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would really like a panther or veiled. I think Im going to buy the 175, as that will last the chameleon a while if not his whole life, and keep my DIY plans at hand. I am definately handy enough to make a bigger screened in enclosure, its just that im doing a full viv and I dont want it to look unprofessional.

Also make shure its a mesh enclosure and if you want only one cham make absolutley shure its a male one:D Tip: the best food choises for them are roaches and locusts (mealys and crictets are better as a complement) Also buy captive breds only

If you are able to get them from a good sorce they are a great staple, one of the healtiest foods you can give to a herp, high in calcium, protein and fiber, low in fat. Dont forget to include also more foods to ad variety:D

Yes ok, but also ad roaches, locusts and the ocasinal cricket and mealy. Even with healtiest foods we need to rotate them to get more nutrients;) Also dodnt forget how crusial water is to chams. Many chams in captivity have some sort of cronical deshidration because they dont get the water they need. Pulverizing the enclosure several times a day is a must(as you know most chams dont know how to drink from a container but they can be trained to do that:D) Many cham folks give them water oraly by a needle less seringe. Most chams are fast to start acepting water this way.

how about a buncha pygmy chams
theyre awsome
and can be housed together
Yes but most species live only one to two years(this is not from captivity they are naturaly short lived), can be realy picky eaters and we yet dont fully understend the needs of some species(as for temps and humity). Also you cant mix males, only one male and several females is good:D

I will throw in the occasional batch of crickets or mealies for variety and everything will be supplemented. I will also have running water in the enclosure and a fogger for humidity. If necessary i can certainly give him a syringe watering.
