just a small note on the pima/melafix.. I've used it for many years.. and have used it w/ my gar. I don't neccisarily advocate the use of it unless you really know how to use the stuff. Like any med/treatment proper use is key. I've heard of bettas having issues w/ the product and such other air-breathers. I also only use it in 1/2 doses, w/ no signs of stress to my gar or for that matter my arrowana who was tagged well by the gar and had to be QT'd ect.. I've also used it w/ my Bichirs who breach alot. I do not know the long-term effect if any that may result w/ it's use.. but after 1 yr my Bichirs show no signs of issues 'nore the last few months either the gar or arrowana.
If you use this product, DO NOT raise the temp.. it will displace O2 in the system and this is generally where people make their biggest mistake w/ this product, and kill their fish. Also nowhere does it state to raise the temp when using it... for me personally this stuff has been the "holy grail" for treating split fins, infections, ect... Or I'm just getting that lucky w/ it.
