The lack of commitment on the part of the many hobbyists who keep freshwater stingrays is extremely disappointing. I mistakenly believed that people who are willing to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on stingrays would be excited to spend 3 days listening and talking to the worlds leading experts on these fish, so they could provide proper care for their specimens. I was wrong. Because of the limited number of registrations, the International Symposium on Freshwater Stingray Biology will now take place at the Shedd Aquarium, on August 7th and 8th. Registration is still limited to 50 people, but at this time there are only about 15 spots left. As noted earlier, the auction, raffle and banquet dinner have been cancelled. I will be contacting those people who have already registered with additional details. Those fortunate people will have an incredible experience.
