Changing directions - possibly have to sell some mean fish

Well clown loaches are breeding controllers they will eat other fishes eggs in a heart beat. Also what size geos are you planning on getting? Anything that looks just a little to big to fit in your oscars/gt/blackbelt/parachromis mouths will end up dinner or dead. I've found that mixing large sa/ca with geos isn't a good idea. Of coarse not saying it isn't possible....but beware!

if you must keep any of those fish I would keep the Oscar (Don't really care for them) but with the Geo's the Oscar would probably leave them alone. In my opinion if you want to go mellow the rest would have to go. So if you follow me you now have the Oscar and the Geo's. Add a H. Pssitacus and a nice Severum (Notatus) and That should do it but it really comes down to what you want in that tank. I don't see a Blackbelt or a Synspillum leaving the Geo's alone really.

Sorry for the confusion, but my thread isn't about mixing parachromis and other aggressive cichlids with gephagus. I'm selling my large mean centrals in order to keep easier going geophagus and other fish. I thought about keeping the oscar, but the more I think about it, the more I want something else.

Can a synspilum and a psitacus coexist with a group of 6-10 geophagus sp. tapajos?

I would say yes as long as the geos are not small. And even then you can't say 100% yes that will work. All fish have different personalities. I've herd of synspillum terrorizing smaller fish and getting the snot beat out of them with bigger fish. I know I would not mix any vieja with fish that could fit in its mouth. I dunno where you plan on getting g a group from that isn't 1-2" but if you can I would say you increase your chances of it working. In a nutshell small geos don't work out well with larger fish specially if its a large aggressive cichlid

I've got room to grow out the geos, and the syn in questions is about 4.5". He isn't a large monster yet :-)

I do have a plan now, the problem is going to be enacting it. I'll have to call around tomorrow, but around here, the fish stores will not pay for fish from private individuals. So I'll have to resort to craigslist and listing them here. Hopefully I can sell these fish rather soon!

Well James, we've traded and sold fish with one another for a long time, I'll be sure to help you in your cause, and help you find homes for your fish... as for your female dovii, well we know where she is going... :)

I would quess no. Besides the Psittacus is South American and likes a lower PH, like the Geo's and the Oscar if you planning to keep it. I've tried mixing South and Centrals and it just never worked out well for me or the South Americans.
