180 is drained in the back at approximately 10" from the top of the tank and a 3/4 PVC pipe with a ball valve is already connected to it.

Once everything is connected, I'll adjust the water level on the 180 so that it will be "very near" the drain and let the FX5 pull the water from the 30G to the 180.

I'm doing something similar except I'm going to let 2 FX5s pull from a 40B up to a 150G. My tank isn't drilled so I'm going the route of two 2" DIY PVC Overflows
