Hi everyone. I'm George. I've had my channa Andrao for about 4 years. It's developed some kind of rotting tissue around the mouth area. It's been about 3 weeks now. I've tried using e.m erythromycin but it doesn't seem to help. I value this fish a great deal and would be devastated if it dies. Can someone please identify the disease and give me some tips to treating it. Thanks very much.

Looks more like a tumor or growth instead of a fungal type thing going on.

Thanks for your input. I'm guessing if it is in fact some kind of tumor then there's no treatment ? How does nitrate being zero contribute to the growth of tumor ? Thanks for your help.

I’d lean toward a tumor as well. Poor water doesn’t directly lead to a tumor but there are some viruses that have a similar look. So when there’s poor water quality and fish are stressed they can get these viruses. Other times it could be a growth w/o a cause. Best bet is take it to a vet if ur able and want to get it diagnosed and any chance of treatment. If can’t afford it and the fish isn’t acting normal then I’d consider euthanasia. Just looking at it in this manner.
