Im pretty sure hes just looking after that Polypterus Senegalus for a couple weeks or so??
Like i said these fish are not mine
A heater?!?! Why is it kept with a bichir? Sorry dude...would you also keep parrots together with penguins?
Ok, well when people start a thread with "Noticed a rather large belly on my snakehead..." it usually means they are talking about THEIR fish!
Anyway, back on topic, as Brucki said, they are just over fed or have just had a good meal before the photo.
Don't mean to appear rude, but if you and your friend are asking questions like this here, then one would assume you wouldn't know how much food is over feeding!
Do yourself a favor and listen to knowledgable Channa keepers. It will help you in the long run!
Hi,
espescially subtropical channa feed as mcuh as they can, which is very unhealthy for them.
A friend of mine (the second one that bred aurantimaculata) had the species in large numbers for years, and no breeding at all. So hi gave some specimen to a veterinary university were the fish were guttet and so it became visible, only fat inside, no visible genitals. genitals have been transformed to fat !!
Tghe fish werent fed really much, but it was too much for the subtrropical aurantis. But since then we know, fish that look like that you'Äve posted will never ever breed in their live. !
And feeding them 3 to 4 times a week is pretty much too much !!
3 to 4 times a month would be better, really, thats NO joke
