Channa Aurantimaculata Pregnant???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The heater isnt on, and these fish are not mine my freind simply asked me to ask on here,

He doesnt over feed them so why is the fish so fat??

Im pretty sure hes just looking after that Polypterus Senegalus for a couple weeks or so??

Like i said these fish are not mine

So, now your friend is not torturing the auranti. He's keeping that senegalus, a tropical species, in an unheated tank at this time of year. Even looking after it for a couple of weeks, he's not doing a very good job.

Ive told him this but he said its only a couple weeks so its not goin to be a problem, explain how hes torturing them exactly?? i suggest you read the thread before you go posting comments :)

A senegalus is a tropical fish. If his heater is unplugged, the water this time of year would be too cold for it. they like a temperature of 24-29 celcius. I have been reading the thread, and your friend is not a responsible fish keeper.

So now the water is much too warm for the auranti this time of year. Aurantis need a cooling off period during the winter. If they don't get this cooling off, they will die, as with most subtropical fish. All my subtropical channas got a winter's rest with 18 degree water this year. They can go colder, but winter was fairly warm this year. In addition, aurantis don't appreciate tankmates, especially tropical ones.

I live in london its is pretty much summer already they have been kept at around 18-19degrees the weather is warming up so naturally the tank is going to warm up slightly, they wont die that abit of an extreme statement,

"IN ADDITION" the birchir was in the tank for 2 weeks and i no longer in there read the older posts

my mate was simply looking after the fish because the other guy had upgraded his tank and there was no where to house it

Subtropical fish that do not get their winter's rest will die. Read the sticky on snakehead keeping conditions. The author had killed a few sp assams in the past by keeping it year round in tropical conditions. Other subtropical fish as well, will suffer the same fate. Many Central American cichlids are subtropical and need the same care. I'm just trying to give you some advice. At the end of the day, they are your fish, and you can do whatever you want.

There not my fish!! how many times, no offense you clearly know what you talking about but so do i, im not saying my mate is keeping them in the right conditions the tropical fish that was in there is not anymore so there isnt a problem the tank is always at around 19-22 degrees when ever i go round there, your telling me things that are blatentley obvious, hes had these fish for 2 years now and kept them exactly how he is now with tank temps i mentioned early in this post and there fine and all around 12inchs long
