Thought I'd share a few quick video's of a pair I picked up a couple weeks ago. Tanks a bit bare at the moment they were being treated for a fungal/bacterial infection. Luckily then responded well to treatment, and it's been a 5 day's since treatment ended with no signs of fungus returning *knock on wood*.
Thanks for embedding the videos, seems every damn site has a different set of tag's to get them to show up was in a bit of a rush when i posted didn't have time to figure out this sites method! It sucks that they are prohibited in the states, Canada is heading in the same direction, Ontario has already banned them, a few other provinces are heading in that direction as well. I understand the importance of the ban's but I think it's a bit ridiculous to know people can't be trusted to care for them responsibly.
No problem bro, had no idea they where starting to ban them in Canada. Still at least you get to enjoy the Asian Aro's, which is one of my fave's along with Snakeheads. I've only had 1 Channa in my life it was a Red-line SH which is Channa Mircopeltes I believe, awesome fish despite being on the homely side.
It really sucks that they ban Asians in the US, there also one of my favorites and I have one of them as well lol in with an indo Dat and some big Bichirs , pic's dont do his color justice I need better camera and lighting to show off his gold color.
(I know not a snake head but just showing him off since Aro's were mentioned)
Right now I only keep one other snakehead species, Channa Asiatica She's a big old girl 14" ish, VERY aggressive.
In the new year I'll be picking up a few more thanks to a new shop moving into town who's owner is willing to help bring in fish I want. Plus i want to get them into my collection before more provinces crack down, I doubt New Brunswick will ever ban them but there is no international airport here so as other provinces ban them it gets harder and harder to get them shipped into the country.
If all goes to plan I'll be looking for a school of pleuro's to put in with my arowana, and I plan to try and collect up breeding pairs of pulchra, ornatipinnis & bleheri and if i can find them I really want to get my hands on a couple Asiatica "RED SPOT" and Astica "China yellow".
Nice to find another Canadian Channa keeper. I started off wanting aurantis, ended up with lal cheng. Still hoping to get one of the mid size species for the 180 g. Pulchra, stewartii, or asiatica.
Ever try to find a mate for the asiatica?
O
Sent from my TC970 (Wi-Fi) using MonsterAquariaNetwork App
I had a mate for the asiatica, she ripped him in half during courtship.
I started with 5 of them thats the only time i've ever seen them available. At about 3" a pair formed and they quickly did away with the other 3, quite brutally. The pair were fine until the went into courtship and the female bit the tail off her mate and skinned him. I'd like to try again, but wont be with her , she's been solo for many years , guts and shreds anything you put in the tank, even attacks my arm, net's new decor lol she's way to aggressive.
