as it stands at the moment it would come in aug 2010 (i belive )i nvolve every species of channa and para channa , also all spiney eels along with many barbs and others fish from the same areas.
the countries effected would be :
Austria
Belgium
Bulgaria
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Ireland
Italy
Latvia
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Malta
Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain
Sweden
United Kingdom
it was supposed to come in aug 2008 but where given extra time to allow farms and countries to gain a e.u.s. free status .
as far as i am aware the following species are farmed
micro
pleuro
straita
marulia
argus - restricted by a diferant law
since these are all farmed there is big money involved with them and each farm would defanitly manage to obtain this status , the could not afford not too. however wild caught species are the ones that would suffer ,which are all the species that are really suited to aquarium life.
there are many rumors around on what will happen if anything , but no official word as yet ,so for now its just wait and see
Why ban those snakeheads that grows to 24"? Just be a responsible keeper and don't release them in the wild. If they do that many people will stunt their snakeheads so it won't grow to 24"+.
