hi mate they are a varient of gachua , they could be tropical or sub-tropical , if you do not know the location of where they where caught then i would set your heater at the lowest end of tropical range , gachua can tolerate a very wide range of temps so you should be ok .
useally gachua are fairly peacefull ,but of course you do get exceptions to the rule.
in your tank i would add a lots more to the bottom of the tank , personally i would use bodwood to create far more cace type places for them to go , then plant quite heavy between the wood with easy grow plants.
gachua tend to like to stay around the bottom of the tank , they like to hide in caves ect with there head sticking out , the more caves and places to hide the more they actually come out into the water colunm. you could provide other things similar to the bell for hiding , i just prefer a natural look but that is just personal preferance.
if one is being a bully still try having a word with the lfs and see if you can exchange that one for another. but i do thing if the bottom of the tank was more structered then they would settle right down as just protect there space if someone ventured into it .
