My ever-famous 33g tank needs a tankbuster. What about a gaucha?
Any possible tank mates?
Special requirements?
Recommended setup?
If not, any new fish types to move on to?

in my opinion SH's should juz be kept wif SH's of the same breed... if u've read my last few post there has even been conflicts among the same species and sex already... LoL... i'm juz letting u know from experience... my 2 cents worth...

but if u seriously want a tank mate for uR gachua u could consider a Spotted Raphael Cat... max growth 8 inches if i'm not wrong... the spines around the bugger should keep it outta uR gachuas mouth... but careful not 2 prick uRself as well...

pricks from the spines of catfishes are known 2 hurt like a b!tch...

cheers...

must agree . channa deserve there own species tank . gachua however is one of the very few you may get away with mixing . the problem is though in a mixed setup the gachua would hide most of the time (there quite shy species anyway) and you probably would not see much of it , gachua are really not keen on fish as food so tank mates would be things like larger rainbow fish ect . second problem is size allough some gachua would be happy in a 33g my indian calcutta gachuas are now around 10inch and still growing and would be cramped in a 33g without tankmates . and lastly some gachua are sub-tropical and would not fair well in tropical tank and there aint that many sub-tropical fish in lfs to house your gachua with.

to be honest i would, depending on tank diamensions ,probably go for channa orientals as theese grow slower and stay a lot smaller than gachua and you could keep a nice breeding pair in your tank or possably a pair of channa sp assam

channa orientals?
Any snakehead I could keep with any catfish.

most cats would outgrow a tank tat uR toking about right now... and frankly if i've 2 stress again tat SH's are best kept among only their own species from experience... it's best not 2 mix... cuz either species will get hurt...

and like wad tropheus mentioned about water temp... i couldn't agree more...

And if they are CW, could a dojo loach work?
Sorry for asking, but snakeheads are legal in canada right?

sorry but i do not know uR abbreviation of a CW could u elaborate? frankly i do not know if a loach would work cuz i've never tried tat combi...

Cold Water.
Dojo's grow to 8"
I shall be first to experiment!

ooh... haha... ok ok... enjoy mate... i'm looking 4ward 2 it...

If all else fails, I can still just buy another.
Once I get the SH, I will post a thread on it
