Channa harcourtbutleri?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the help all. Sorry, ive not been able to post resently.
From what others on different forums say, its a gauchua.
However, no-one ive seen keeps harcourtbutlerii, so that may be a problem as there are also no good photos of the species on the web. He does have a diamond pattern, but il have to look closly to see if its something defining.

I may take some fin counts tomorro.

Edit: sorry Jelly, just noticed that you do keep harcourtbutlerii. Mine does look faily similar to the third picture down that Siciliano posted.

we should see if 74ray still has pics oh c. harts. him and his bud had 20 or so before the ban. and they look alot different then gachillas, and alot more agro then gachillas.
u out there Mark?

yeah, this thread is five years old !

And to confirm what gaetano said, the fisch shown by th ethreadopener is surely not a bleheri, not even a sp. Assam (which often are calle blue bleheri, but have are not related to them at all, different breeding forms !! bleheri are surface breeders sp. Assam are mouthbrooders).

The swon fish were imported as harcourtbutleri by the german wholesaler glaser, but later it was confirmed that these fish cannot be harcourtbutleri. So they were called "glaser-harcourtbutleri".
According to their aggressivness, and to the location were the only guy lives that managed to breed them several times, some channaholics calle them "Aggro-Berlin".
It is maybe a gachua variant, but maybe a species of its own !
I have tried my luck with these several times, but I always ended in one male and all others dead. Still have that one. Here are some pics:
