marulioides can grow up to 2'.. while max size for marulius is 6'.. but i think snakehead that i keep were marulioides because it native fish here in malaysia and i bought it at low price.. but i still confused with both snakehead.. look just the same..

they are easy to tell apart when they are juveniles. Marulius has markings on the face when they are small, black lines crossing the eyes. Juvenile Marulioides have one general color on the head, usually dark brown.

Marulius

the things you can notice is that the markings on the marulioides are must more distinct, you can see the markings are much sharper and usually more blotchy. on the marulius the markings are often more like vertical bars and they are muddier, not as distinct. also the marulius often have the markings on the face... horizontally toward the tail from the eye, and also from the nose through the eye n to the top of the head. The marulius generally has a longer thinner body than the marulioides.... also the head of the marulioides is usually a bit shorter and fatter

phen_dox: post a picture of your marulioides/marulius and i will tell you wat it is if you cannot figure it out.
