I saw them today at my LFS, $18/ piece. Very beautiful specimans even at the young age. Too bad I cannot dedicate a tank for them. Already maxed out with my Cichla.

Nice, vendors here in Canada can't even bring them in when I ask for them ,but here they sit in a lfs in Sri lanka. Even if they did get here the price would 3 to 4x that price.

Also jealous i wish they were this easy to find around here!

It's still possible to get them in canada just a bit more difficult then it used to be (not that it was ever easy!)

I'm actually hoping to get some pleuro's shipped in soon! The season is just starting on them now so i should know in a couple weeks time. I already know of several shipments of indian species that came into canada this fall from various suppliers just takes some planning and being careful to find flights that dont land in provinces where they have been banned.

Beautiful. Make sure you have a tight lid and constant supply of food while they're young.
Congrats.

I've given them shrimp and they ate that. How often should I feed them at this stage? They are about 4" - 5" in size.

Feed them until they have large stomachs at least twice a day until they are 6-7". It shouldn't take them long to reach that size, then you can feed once a day. At small sizes they are always hungry and I've seen them rip off tails (not just fins, but right into the meat which won't grow back and results in death). I try to feed mostly whole fish (guts and skeleton included; not just filets) as a staple with occasional shrimp, prawn, krill, crayfish, insects, and pellets. In the wild they eat mostly fish and seem to get the best growth with whole fish. Chopped frozen silversides work good for juveniles.
Good luck.

Thank you very much. I will need more advice as I move along. :-)

Also can somebody tell me about the growth rate of this fish? I found that they reach a max ~ 16". Do they grow around 1"/month or slower than that?
