Channa Pulchra Growth Size and Rate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi, thanks for the info. Do you think this is an Emerald? If you look at my avatar pic, that is the same fish. The spot marks along it back have gone. ( Maybe a stress thing ) Also his head was quite was the lighter colour. He has now, as the week passed he has relaxed and the large kind of finger print markings have gone. The body is a brown mottled trout look and his head has darkened to almost black with a purple/blue. Really there are so many variations, I wonder do I have an old age pensioner or a teenager. lol He is 10 inches long. His head would be 1 inch and 3/4 wide. and the price of £80

The one in your pic looks like my Channa Gachua, it was sold to me a a Royal Blue Snakehead, Tropical and grows to around 10" mines about 8" atm

I may be wrong though do you have a bigger pic??

That yellow fish will die soon..just guessing....NICE SNAKEHEAD ! Congrat's

Wish I could have one of these, but in Brazil it's pretty hard to find them...I only got one Lucius =D

I just received my four juvenile Channa Pulchra by normal post from a licensed dealer.
They are about 5cm and have a 42x18x12 tank to themselves.

Hi, Have had a time trying to photograph this beast. He hides a lot of the time.
My Emerald 022.jpg
He is 10" long and lives with a few other fish of various sizes which he does not bother as yet. He seems to eat whitebait and little else. Along with a shovel nose catfish
flying fox
Albino Bichir
All above around 5"+
I think the shop was right. Sold as an Emerald Snakehead.
Have some video to edit lol

I find it sad when people do what you have done.
You are mixing Channa with other fish which is bad enough, but they are also Sub-tropical fish.
Brucki has serious experience with Channa, and clearly told you your fish is a HIGH ALTITUDE Channa that is STRICTLY SUB TROPICAL.

What is it with people not bothering with the first BASIC rules of Channa keeping!

Tokyogasmask has it all correct i did the same when i first bought channai kept them with loads of other fish as my local lfs said this was fine, clearly just to make a sale, weeks later fish went missing and started getting attacked!

If you dont keep them at the right temps they wont be happy for one and will be suseptable to diseases

I have taken his advice and ignored it when i ignored it bad things happened lol

I now keep all my channe in the right enviroment and they look better than ever!!!

Dont buy fish if you dont know anything about them

Good Luck.
