Anybody with channels notice any aggression? I've had several in the past and they pretty much ignored their tankmates, even if the mates messed with them. But the one I've got now (8" or so, maybe 10") is a definite fighter...he'll do a bit of chasing, and if any of the cichlids in there mess with him he fights back, biting etc. It's fine now that he's around the same size as his tankmates but if he keeps up as he grows, well I'd better get working on that pond...

i ahve some that attacked the gar that er bigger then them vbecause they bit him but that was hte only aggression i saw

Most likely you do not have a channel catfish most channel cats are docile and would never attack anything (unless food.)
And to add to that give us a side pic so we can ID it.

are you kidding i wish no agg towards my others I had i really nice all black one and he wanted to tear up my smaller rtc that was bigger than he was so i had to put him in a bucket and bring him to my lfs cause my rtc i had since it was a baby so when i put him in the bucket even with airbubbles he dies in like 20mins oh well it was either him or king

Mine has no aggression at all. He's pretty skittish of me though. If he sees my shadow or any shadow he freaks! Makes a nice thud at 26.5". I think he has post traumatic stress syndrome though. His smaller brother was eaten by my old jau, and his fin was ripped out spine and all that same night. Only a small portion of the soft fin rays grew back and there's no hint of spine at all. He's really shy and the much smaller oscars, and jag beat him up everytime he comes close. He tries to hide under them. lol. None of the other channels I've kept were aggressive either. Probably an individual thing though. My bullhead is definitely there though. She's only 13" living with that channel and other cats much larger and could swallow her whole, but she kicks the tar out of them on a daily basis. Including my RTC.

My cam is really bad, it doesn't seem to have a macro setting so my fish pics look like vaguely fish-shaped blobs :( But it's definitely a blue channel cat, no question.

Mine is pretty jumpy as far as people go. He was really skittish when he was small (I think I even posted about it because that too was something I hadn't seen in my previous channel cats). Since he's in the bigger tank he isn't as nervous and comes out when I'm looking (because he knows I feed him and he's taken a liking to krill). I'm hoping it just stays on the retaliation level as eventually the other fish will learn their lesson (especially as my cat outgrows them), I think what maybe started it is my convicts trying to evict him from the cave he likes, and he realized if he went after them they'd retreat (they're small cons).

Mine just swims and doesnt do anything toward the Bluegill.
