Channel Cats are Coldwater fishes from North America. They should not be put under tropical conditions. Anything over 75 and they will go berserk and then probably die when it reaches 80 something.

They will eat anything that fits in its mouth.

I bought my Channel Cat at 4-5 inches 7 minths ago and now he's pushing 10 inches.

I dont go nuts feeding him either.

Where do you get this information from?

yea when i first put him in the tank he was breathing really heavily so i lowered the temp a few degrees and now he is doing fine. and catfishlover my water temp is 78 degrees.

Thats just bad info. They are more active but will not die. I have a 18" channel in my 350 gallon at 75-85 degrees depending on time of the day and it is fine.

I dont think there growth is all that fast. The do go through growth spurts but are slower then alot of other natives like bass, and bluegill to adult size

he is right to a certain extent....they will not die immediately but if u take john PTC's huge albino channel cat that managed to grow to over 3 feet...it actually died wayyyy before its natural life expectancy due to the warmer conditions that it lived in...
