Build a pond. Mine grew from 3" to 18" in a year. Awesome catfish but they need a lot of space. They tend to freak out and take off into things due to their poor eyesight.
I recommend building a pond. They can get 3.5 feet or so and over 50 lbs. My 3 are going in my pond in the spring.
channels can be territorial in the aquarium, and being a bottom dweller the oscars are top levels swimmers it doesnt sound like space is the issue. have you tried feeding the oscars one thing and channel another? like shad cuts? eventually the fish may get the idea that one is the others food and not theirs, hope this helps at all.
