Channel Catfish Care And Tanksize

4 line pim, smaller size but very active, lima shovelnose, tigrinus, lots of others, skim the media lounge to see if anything trips your trigger then google it to see max size.
Lima Shovelnose Catfish are pretty cool...I'm enjoying the lil guy I picked up a couple weeks ago. They get up to 18" or maybe even a little bigger. Heres a video of it "shedding" mucus, which I hear is perfectly natural. Mine has been doing it about twice a week.

The first week and 1/2 that I had it I fed it mostly live ghost shrimp with a few live rosy reds in the mix. I just dumped in about a dozen at a time and a gave it a couple days to clear 'em out. Each morning his belly would be FULL 
But I wanted to switch him off live food quick, but it being that small I wasn't sure it'd be easy. I got a shipment of misc food that I had ordered online (specifically freeze-dried blood worms and brine shrimp) right around the time the ghost shrimp ran out.
I didn't think the Lima would be hungry yet (stomache was still a little bulged from feeders), but I put some bloodworms in and was watching my silver dollars go crazy over them...then noticed in the corner of my eye that the Lima was doing the same thing
So I put in some FD brine shrimp in the mix to try to get him hooked on those and he seems to accept them, but prefers blood worms I think. Now whenever I add bloodworms he is at the top of the tank frantically searching for his share At which point I usually toss in a lil brine shrimp.

I keep Limas and they are great!!! I would also recommend anchara/perunno cats. I also keep ompok catfish and heard they grow at least 16" and they look like minature wels808;2945070; said:
Last but not least you can always catch a puntat in the streams or get them froim china town but heard they are kinda agressive. Well hoped this helped youthey would be ok in a 240 for a good amount of time, mines fine in a 55 and ive had him for a year and a hald. theyd last a while in there and then afterwards u culd put them in the pond as recommended or release them back into the resevoir you got him from. just watch what u put in there with him, mine gets territorial in the spring during the spawn.
dude bullheads are great pets and could live comfortably in a 75 gallon tank for life. i have had my fair share of channel cats and bullheads and bullheads are so much easier.
