Channel Catfish Questions. My First One.

LOL...hehe, yeah I really don't know why I did that. But bullheads are becoming a pest around here so I didn't mind. Kinshi (his/her name) is doing great, eats like a pig, and loves to nibble on fingers. I swear the thing has grown 1/2 and inch already. Luckily I convinced my parents to build a 600 gallon pond in the next month or two. Considering how fast Kinshi is growing, it's a good thing the new pond will be built. About 80% of the fathead population is down. But still lots of fry. As far as I can tell there are no more bluegill left. Kinshi is one little beast, and sorry if I offended any of you for eating my fish.

Blue channel cats have the potential to grow larger than the plain channel cats. The world record for a blue is much more than the record for plain cannels. Blues also get darker on their back as they mature. I would think that it would survive in florida. However in the wild, thier habitats are larger. So a smaller body of water would loose heat faster (retain less) than a huge bayou. That could pose a problem.

like i said a herring took one of mine..
I'm sorry but that just keeps on cracking me up. A Heron ate yours, herring are fish.

Herons are also a type of bird they are in the crane family, lets all just hope that you train this fish to do tricks though so it don't end up on your dinner plate

I woke up this morning to find nothing but half his skeleton with all the meat ripped off. I figured a racoon got to him. I do have a heron decoy, but I guess this was a smart racoon. I'm surprised the catfish didn't use any of the hides to escape, or maybe it did. All I know is I'm not investing into another catfish for my pond until I build one that's at least 2 feet deep. Lesson learned. :(
