I have done alot of research on this fish and i really want one or two and i want to know the most i can know. I have a 400+ gallon outdoor pond with a good pump and filter.

I got a channel cat a few months ago and it has quickly gone from 3" to 9". The smaller they are the more shy they are but as they gro they become more and more confident. Make sure you have a lot of time in contact with it so that it gets used to you faster. Put your hand in the water when you put food in so that it associates your hand with food and eventually as it gets older you will actually be able to touch it without frightening it.
man i have a 3" channel cat my tsn tried to eat it ...he is about 18" and my clown knife also tried he is 19-21"(hes never perfectly straight) and both spit it out ..lucky guy ..i kept him he came in a bag of feeders...hopefully he makes it

Seeing how channel cats are game fish. And its illegal to use game fish as bait in every state I believe.....I wouldn't use one. Lol not worth the fine
