Be careful. Sheds are usually flimsy structures whose roofs are not designed to support much weight. Just leaning a nice sturdy ladder against it may be a safer approach.

It's too close to the fence to even get a ladder in there, but it's a structure with a real roof--not a typical metal shed. It's much sturdier than ours, but somebody would surely see me and tattle so I'd better come up with another idea. None of this was set up the way I would have liked, and nobody around here does anything legally either (with permits). The neighbor's shed is literally right up against the fence and he keeps his wood pile behind it and we're constantly getting rats in our pond area from his woodpile (which he doesn't use). And said pond area is also right up against the fence on 2 sides, making it impossible for my husband to even get to the filter--I have to climb back there because I'm little. I'll have to see if I can clean up the vegetation enough to get some unblocked shots from water level.
Yep. Sounds far from adequate, not even to say far from ideal. Well, just don't try to overextend yourself on my account, please. Forget my request for pics. Good luck too, especially working things out with the neighbor, if you ever attempt. It is one of the most hideous experiences in the world to have an enemy for a neighbor. "Tread lightly" comes to mind.
You're absolutely right, and we haven't said anything at all because they really helped me out after my husband's surgery when he fell and I couldn't get him up. I've just been dealing with the rats myself. I read that they don't like mint and I have lots of mint taking over my garden so I may move it to the pond area. It won't hurt the fish if any ends up in the pond, will it?
I made the mistake of trying to keep 5-6" albino channel cats in with my son's full grown bullfrog. They disappeared. So, a good rule of thump with bullfrogs is "if it will fit in their mouth, or if you want to KEEP something" dont put it in the tank with them!

Thanks, hotsauce! (Love the screen name, btw) Unfortunately, this is a real outdoor pond and I didn't put the bullfrog there. I've seen the frog, but only at night and not long enough to get a picture or catch him. It's a big, ugly thing--I'd say the body is about 5" give or take and the legs are huge. He always disappears in a split second and I have no idea where he is during the day, but I hear him!
