Im not quite sure whats going on with him. Sits in one of two spots all day, wont come up to the glass when I show him his food jar (all my stock know the food container and get excited when they see it), doesnt budge when food flows right infront of his face. He wont do anything! Lol its been like that for about a week now. All I did was remove an old powerhead (about 4 years old) and he became soo reluctant to do anything. He still swims around the tank, going from spot to spot that he likes. Im starting to worry. Nothing has changed in this tank other than the powerhead, water params are all in check, I added some salt just for safe measure, and last month (before these issues started), I did a precaution treatment of Prazipro (i do this about every 6 months).

Im going to try and get a new powerhead this week if I can, things have just been too busy around the house lately to get out and go shopping for fish stuff.

Just keep an eye on him, his behavior isn't really out of the ordinary as Ive seen with my Payara. Whenever they shed teeth (Armatus or Tats) They act funky for about a week or two until the new ones are fully in place and rested to harden for a little. As far as the old power head it may just be a case of "hey whys my world changing" putting him out of his comfort zone. After you get the new power head let us know if you notice a change. Also once his new fangs are in give him some time before a feeding, You'll probably be surprised at how hungry he really is.

Hes had both new fangs in place for a while now, its the other smaller teeth that hes shedding again. I was watching him last night after the lights went out and he does the same nightly routine he always does, but still gets spooked if I come too close to his tank so I cant even try night feeding.

What do you normally feed him? If hes really having trouble eating from the "spooking" try throwing in some live, on occasion my fish get tired of the same ol' frozen and pellets so I give them a live treat. Its perfectly fine if you quarantine them.
