i need to find a very cheap 55 g aquarium or bigger cause i got a 30 right now with 2 pacus 6in, 4 perch 2-3in 1 3in oscar, 2 crappie about 4-5in, a 4 in jack dempsey, a 4in bass, an 8 in catfish, and 8 catfish 3-4in its a crapload of fish for that size of a tank and i dont want to go buy an aquarium thats expensive

u should probly go as big as u can.. a 55-75 for those fish might just be a matter of a nother 2-4 months tops basically a waist of money...

It's just a guy that doesn't know how to keep fish, which if you read the LFS customer stories thread you'd know that improperly keeping fish is unfortunately common. ;P

@OP: Seriously dude. Get rid of your Pacus. They're not going to last in a 55 and they're not going to last in a 150.

You could feed some of those to my cichlids to thin out your stock. Look on craigslist, plenty of decent deals in this area if you jump on them. Where abouts in tx are you?

You need a lot bigger tank if you want the majority of your fish to live... the pacus will get monster big...

My advise.. rehome the Pacus.. 4 JD's and an Oscar alone will need a 75+.. not to mention the natives you've listed most of which do much better in an unheated tank. I'd split your natives into another tank. So if wanting ot keep everything but the 2 Pacus.. You'de be looking at 2 x125 gallon tanks. And eventually an upgrade for the cats in the very least a potential.

I'de start w/ a 125 and keep your eyes out for another at a good deal on craigslist/local paper. or invest in a pond/pool if you are intent on keeping the "swimming trash can lids" that will be the Pacu in a very short time.

I'm not trying to be negative but honest. That is waaay to many fish even for a 55. Your fish will grow big and healthy if given the space and opportunity, or get sickly and die if over crammed. If a 125 isn't in your scope of range to keep. make a list of the fish of importance to you to keep. and the people I'm sure will be glad to help you come up with a reasonable stock list for what your capable of haveing. Advise will vary.. but no one is going to say the amount and types of fish you have will live a happy life in a 55.

Everyone else has about said it but most of the fish by themselves is too much for a 55.

Most if not all will get at least 12 inches which is the depth of a 55 (no turning space).

why do you need a 55? just buy 11 5 gallon buckets and keep them in there. Would be just as natural as the current, i wanna see some pics of this monstrosity.
