Depends on what youre doing. Its really overkill for a fish only fw tank. There's cheaper options out there for that. You could probably get away with 2 mars aqua 165w units on a 300 if you mount them a foot or so above your tank.

Where these shine is with coral tanks. The lighting for lps and sps corals can be extremely expensive. These have good par, but are a fraction of that. I'm personally going with viparspectra so I can adjust my percentages more precisely with lower end corals.

Def would do the trick but def overkill... I think 2 of the 21 inch lights would be enough but like P PYRU said the viperspectra has adjustable with controller and a digital screen with built in timer... bit more expensive than my wills or a Mars aqua manual adjust light

Fwiw I use vivagrow 24/7 or aquaneat 10k full spec on my fw fo tanks.

Corals (& some plants) are another beast all together which these are geared towards. You really need to be able to adjust your percentages and get adequate par.

Here's one dialed down and one with more intensity 300w versions using 2 on a 6ft 300 & 6ft 220.
