do you have a picture of the bulkhead on top of the bucket, and also what are you using for media?
there is no bulkhead, i can open the lid easily and pop it off, also none of the fittings on the inside of the bucket are glued so i can disassemble any of those components if i need to. the media is just a layer of filter fiber and then 7 or 8 packs of scrubbies

Would it be worth it to make a sized-down version for a 40gal breeder?
this one is one a 55gal, the only thing i paid for directly for use in fishkeeping was the pump, the only thing it took was a little time. It depends on the needs of the tank

What do you mean by seeding? Arent you supposed to use an overflow?
Also, isnt there supposed to be something to make it trickle? i have no idea where i got this but dont they call it a trickle filter?
From the inlet pipe on top of the foam filter, what is that huge blue thing sticking out? is the water supposed to just pour all out?
seeding is using media from a filter/tank with an established bacterial colony to start a colony in a new filter/tank.
I have an overflow, its not included 1) because its not DIY, and 2) although a way for the water to get to the wet/dry is needed it is not actaully a part of the wet/dry
the outlet from the overflw is a 1.5 inch pvc pipe that has 4 slots along its length and some holes drilled on top, it disperses the water pretty evenly across the top of the media. not really a designed piece, just trial and error
Im not sure what blue thing youre talking about, prob just the lid, there isnt really water pouring anywhere, everything is functioning as i intended it to, not sure what you're asking here

Nice
I am going to make just like it but have a question
how much of the media should be out of the water
I keep about 1/4 of the scrubbies submerged, so about 3/4 for me. not really any reason behind it though, just works well for me to keep a good amount of water in the sump
