Cheap black substrate?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont have catfish on it but I have cichlids large and small that dig in it, my plants love it, snails live on and under it with no negative effects, my neo shrimp live on it perfectly. I have one otocinclus but that tank is so heavily planted that the oto never really touches the sand because of the carpet of dwarf sagitarria.

I use it in all my tanks I keep Cory's synodontis and bichirs on it and they do just fine, Itsadeepbluesea Itsadeepbluesea hey buddy twas I who keeps the cories in it lololol there are varying grades of it I have coarse in one tank and super fine in the other 2

Thanks, I couldn't remember who it was, I was hoping you would chime in.

They can be stung by them but my outbreak eventually disappeared on its own. I never really worried about them too much. I did add one otocinclus quite a while back, but if I remember right they were pretty much gone even before that. I now keep a large colony of yellow tiger endlers with them so all the microfauna is kept very minimal.
