cheap black tank background?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Spray paint is pretty cheap and the easiest imo. Other backgrounds are fine but I've found a pain if it comes into contact with water.

I paint sheets of styrofoam insulation black, and duct tape them to the back, sides and bottom of tanks.
Beside providing a removable color panel, helps hold the temp steady, winters get cold here.

If the tank is glass it is very easy to remove paint with a razor blade

How about plastidip?

I use a black 55 gallon drum liner trash bag for one of my tanks. I cut the edges off so that it's over 6 ft long. I use black styrofoam sheets from the dollar store on a few small tanks. I also got some black backgrounds from the LFS.

If I can find black background here in my lfs that will do, but if I can't i will go with some of your suggestions. Thanks guys! these website really help me a lot in this hobby :headbang2
